Getting there

Boracay Island is found approximately 315km (200 miles) south of Manila, the capital city of the Philippines and 2km off the northwest tip of the island of Panay in the Western Visayas region. Flights to Caticlan Airport, a fifteen-minute boat ride away from Boracay Island, depart from Metro Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport daily. Caticlan is approximately 305 kilometers or one-hour in flight away from Metro Manila. Flights from Manila Airport to Kalibo City, a two-hour shuttle ride away from Caticlan, are also available daily.

Boracay Mandarin Island Hotel offers private land and boat transfers from Caticlan Airport. Transfers from Kalibo Airport can also be arranged by our officers for you.

Weather

Weather in Boracay is cross between Amihan (Warm Northeast Wind) and Habagat (Cool Southwest Wind).

The warm Amihan season (28-38°C) from October to June brings excitement and lively merry-making as the warm beach becomes the place to be for parties and events.

The Habagat season, on the other hand, appeals to those who want the quiet solemnity of Boracay whilst enjoying a cup of coffee, a warm massage, or solemn activities including Boracay’s famous windsurfing.

Language

The Philippines has over a hundred dialects and Boracay has it’s own rich plethora of languages including Aklanon, Illongo, and the Philippine’s national language, Filipino.

Not to worry though as most locals carry English and commonly use this language for business.

Currency

The currency used is the Philippine peso. Coins in 5 centavos, 25 centavos and 1 peso (which is equal to 100 centavos) are used. Bank notes are in 20, 50, 100, 500 and 1000 peso denominations.
